You will usually be referred to us by your family doctor or consultant although it is possible for private patients to self-refer. Once you have contacted us we will book you an appointment with one of our doctors.
At the consultation the woman will usually have a vaginal ultrasound examination, and the man asked to supply a semen sample in a specially provided room at the centre.
If there are any outstanding preliminary investigations needed for us to accurately diagnose any fertility issues, these will be arranged during this appointment.
However, it will significantly speed your progress through the fertility diagnosis and treatment process if you are able to pre-supply or bring the following test results with you for your initial consultation (your GP may be able to arrange these tests for you):
For Reproductive Medicine the following is required:
- Chlamydia Serology (this is a blood test not a swab test)
- Thyroid function
- Recent FSH & LH taken days 1 – 3 of your cycle.
- Progesterone level 7 days before period e.g. day 21 of 28 day cycle
For IVF and ICSI only:
- Hepatitis B surface and core both partners
- Hepatitis C both partners
- HIV – both partners
Reproductive Medicine and IVF/ICSI
- Semen analysis all males
Please note that if you and your partner have not had Hepatitis B & C and HIV screening tests done, these must be undertaken during your initial consultation. There will be an additional charge for these tests (see Prices).
